Coinciding with 6° OF SEPARATION is Patrick Francis’ solo exhibition, which runs off the back of his highly successful inclusion in Melbourne Now at the National Gallery of Victoria and SAFARI in NSW earlier this year. A prolific painter, Francis draws on popular culture and art history to create enduring works of off centre sophistication. Over ten of his current works will be exhibited.
Arts Project Australia celebrates its 40th Anniversary in 2014 and these two exhibitions feature in Arts Project’s extensive 2014 exhibition and event program.

Francis’ current work uses bold sections of flat colour, distilled into expressive portraits: their potency being their simplicity and dynamism. A prolific painter, Francis’ draws on popular culture and art history to create enduring works of off centre sophistication.
Patrick Francis began exhibiting at Arts Project Australia in 2009 when he was eighteen years old. Since then his work has been included in every Arts ProjectAnnual Gala Exhibition and numerous group exhibitions, including Classic Albums and At the table. In 2013, Francis was selected in Melbourne Now at the National Gallery of Victoria and in 2014 for SAFARI in New South Wales. In 2012, Francis was selected as one of Arts Project Australia’s featured artists for theMelbourne Art Fair, and was also awarded the 2012 Art & Australia/Credit Suisse Private Banking Contemporary Art Award.
